A Practical Tool for Handling Dough

I’m Henry Hunter, founder of the Baking Great Bread at Home, a Facebookgroup, where thousands of home bakers come together to share tips, techniques, and tools that actually work in the kitchen.

The MOD Kitchen Bread Sling is a smart take on handling high-hydration doughs. It’s built for home bakers who want an easier way to move delicate dough without deflating it. The design is simple, heat-resistant, and practical—something that makes sense for those who bake regularly.

I don’t promote products I don’t use, but I do like sharing well-designed tools that might help bakers in our community. If you’re looking for a way to handle wet dough more easily, it’s worth checking out.

Great product made in USA

The sling I bought fulfilled all my expectations. But the friendliness of the staff was amazing!

Sturdy and large enough for all your loaves.

I bake a lot of sourdough loaves each week. Most are a batard shape, so I was excited to see this large oval shaped bread sling. The others I have seen are smaller so not big enough to fully protect my loaves. I like not having to waste parchment paper even though I do use them as long as possible. In addition, using a silicone sling with handles does make for a safer transfer to the Dutch oven compared to using a sheet of parchment. The other advantage is that the bottom of the loaf didn’t get hard or burnt, as often happens in a Dutch oven. It perfectly fits my 12-inch oval Dutch oven. After you remove the pot from the oven, be aware that the silicone mat will be hot as well so keep your oven gloves on while you remove the sling. Or just simply remove the loaf, to place on a cooling rack and leave the sling in the pan to cool.I like that these slings were shipped in a protective seal. They look and feel like my best silicone cooking mats. A great feature is the wide ends of the handles, creating a more comfortable and secure grip. Thoughtfully included is a band to hold the rolled-up sling, making it easy to store in a drawer. The band is similar to the slap bracelets that all the kids love. I’m going to get a round sling too, as I do occasionally also bake round loaves in a round Dutch oven – often at the same time I am baking an oval loaf.

So glad I have this!!!

I enjoy making sourdough bread for friends and family and have been using parchment paper to transfer the dough to my Dutch oven or my clay baker. Doing this with parchment paper must be done with great care not to burn yourself on the preheated bakeware. I decided to order this because of it's large size.Pros:- extra large size- reusable, easy to clean silicone- marked size guide- comes with a snap on band to hold the sling when it is rolled up - it just snaps right around the sling- long handles help to prevent burning yourself on hot bakeware- easy to clean- nonstickCons: I honestly can't think of a single one.

Easy to store

I wanted to get back into making bread, but the sketchiest part has always been transferring the loaf and parchment paper into my white hot dutch oven while trying not to let the paper rip.I’ve used silicone baking sheets to make cookies before and they’re a lot easier to clean and don’t burn like parchment paper. This silicone bread sling works the same way. Material is thick and sturdy. It’s nice that they made the handles pretty long since I have a deep dutch oven. The only downside to the long handles is that you kindof just have to gently drape them over the bread loaf if you want to put the lid on. Doing this has yet to affect the shape of the loaf while baking, however.Anyone who remembers slap bracelets from the 90s will appreciate the piece included to keep the sling tightly rolled for storage.Honestly I’ll probably end up buying this in the round sling as well.
