Why We Bake Bread: Our Story

If you're like me, bread baking started by happenstance. I've always loved baking…cookies, cakes, muffins…but had avoided bread thinking it would be too complicated or time consuming.

But then two things happened…1. A friend of mine offered me some sourdough starter and 2. My desire to know where our food was coming from had grown from curiosity to a need to take action. 

So I began making bread. And though there have been so many moments where I wasn't sure what I was doing or the loaf was a total flop, there was an equal or greater amount of pleasure knowing I was doing something great for my family. 

 Over time, I recognized there was gap in the bread making tools industry. Almost everything available is cheaply manufactured tools from companies that don't seem to care about innovation, sustainability or my family's health. I've always been one to consider how something could function better and last longer (I may not be able to paint but I am a creative thinker!)…so I figured I could hop in and build a brand that made sense for other home bakers like myself.

We've begun with a bread sling. A simple tool that allows safer baking in a more sustainable way. We took the current competitors design and refashioned things to actually function as a bread sling should…it should fit in any dutch oven, be easy and safe to handle, and be durable enough to last through years of baking.
